Learning Experience #2 Reflection

1. Describe one significant idea or issue that has arisen for you, as you were engaging in the topics during Learning Experiences #1 and #2.

I think the one thing that I have begun to notice, given that I feel very confident with technology, is that there are just so many resources available to us. The challenge I see is that too many of us are trying too many different tools to help our students that it can almost become confusing or overwhelming for our students. Furthermore, not all teachers have the capacity or knowledge in technology to fully implement all of these programs into their classroom/school. Consistency is very important and it will be very difficult for school boards to provide proper PD on all of these resources and tools.

2. Elaborate on how specific resources, ideas or experiences in the Learning Experiences have contributed to your learning. e.g. reading material, course activities etc.

I think the idea of using a Blog, Edmodo, and Dragon Dictate for our special needs students is just vital to their success in the 21^st century classroom. These resources provide the environment for the majority of special needs students to full participate in a comfortable, easy to use environment. I will continue to use these resources to their fullest potential moving forward in my Gr. 8 classroom.

3. Share how your participation in the discussion forums have contributed to your learning and connect this to your understanding of the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession.
   
   

This learning experience has provided such an amazing amount of resources for me to use in the classroom. Collaborating with teachers with similar interests with technology and how its used in the classroom has been so beneficial to my professional development. Being the leader in the school for technology, I am able to take all of these resources from our discussions and bring them to the table for my staff, come September.  

4. Discuss any outstanding questions and the steps you may take to further explore your interests as part of your learning in the course.

Moving forward into Learning Experience #3 I look forward to exploring how I can further develop my role the school IT. This is a difficult challenge in the school environment as many teachers are not very familiar with technology and how it can be fully used within the classroom.
